Sail Nova Scotia and discover the best of sailing!
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced sailor, looking to learn navigation and sailing theory or to get practical hands-on sailing experience, Nova Sail has classes tailored to meet your individual or crew sailing needs. Principal Instructor Judy Robertson will take you from the classroom to the waves aboard Semper Vivens, an Avance 40 12-metre keelboat based at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in Halifax, Nova Scotia. All courses offered are based on the Sail Canada or IYT curriculum, and as a certified advanced cruising instructor, Judy can certify you from introductory to advanced levels. Ashore, Judy will teach and certify you in VHF radio operation, Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC), navigation and cruising and the International Certificate of Competence -ICC (required for chartering yachts in most countries). At sea, you will have the opportunity to complete sailing passages while putting your classroom knowledge to use to navigate, conduct boat-handling manoeuvres, and respond safely to various emergency situations. Judy's instruction will help you develop into a safe and competent sailor, ready to take on new adventures.
